Goals of The Horizon Project
Funds from The Horizon Project will be used to fund Three Strategies:
- Strengthen the Foundation: ISC will realize our potential as the international home of storytelling by strengthening our foundation—right in our own backyard. Through The Horizon Project, ISC will build and conduct a year-round program in
Jonesborough and the Tri-Cities Region, expand the functionality
and efficiency of the Center facilities, and expand our existing
web site into a global network outreach.
- Launch a New Program of Service: ISC will produce, market, and sell a series of innovative, educational products and services to help organizations, institutions, and agencies and the communities they serve build a better life and better world through the power of storytelling while producing long-term financial sustainability for ISC. Through The Horizon Project, ISC
will produce educational courses, stage an international
conference, and offer a subscription educational service.
- Ensure Our Future: ISC is committed to ensuring the future of the world's storytelling renaissance and the International Storytelling Center by transforming our existing philanthrophy-based paradigm of service to one of social enterprise: operating ISC as a business enterprise, based on the principles and practices of business excellence, to generate a "double bottom line" of both social and financial outcomes. Through The Horizon Project, ISC will strengthen operational management by
re-organizing the staff and adding a Chief Operating Officer,
improving our operational processes and systems, and providing
financial stability by eliminating our short-term debts.
